Serious incident

On Thursday night, October 15, 2026, a vehicle drove into a farm tractor that was on the side of Route 77 in Niagara County, New York, and one person died at the scene, according to a New York State Police spokesperson as reported by WGRZ. Police closed Route 77 in both directions at Griswold Road sometime before 8:30 p.m.

State Police are investigating and said updates will be provided as more details are gathered. They have not said who died, whether that person was on the tractor or in the vehicle, or what led to the crash.

For farms moving equipment on public roads during harvest, the defenses to check are working lights, flashers, and a slow-moving vehicle emblem, pulling fully off the traveled lane when stopping if possible, avoiding road travel at dusk when you can, and keeping riders off equipment.
