Serious incident

On Sunday afternoon, October 18, 2026, a 42-year-old man died after he was struck by a combine near the 17000 block of Baseline Avenue in Sand Creek Township, Scott County, Minnesota, according to the Scott County Sheriff’s Office as reported by CBS Minnesota and FOX 9. The incident was reported around 3:33 p.m.

Deputies, officers, the Jordan Fire Department, and Allina Health Emergency Medical Services tried to save him, but he died at the scene. The sheriff’s office said investigators are working to learn the circumstances, and the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the man. Reports have not said whether he was working with the combine or how he came to be in its path.

When people on foot work near combines, grain carts, and trucks, the defenses to check are how the crew knows where everyone is, the machine’s blind spots, radios or signals between operators and people on the ground, and a rule that machines stop before anyone approaches. These are planning and communication controls, not just individual care.
