Serious incident

On Friday, October 16, 2026, Matheus da Silva Castanha, 25, received an electric shock while installing stage equipment at the Musiva venue in Cuiabá, Mato Grosso, Brazil, and fell about 3 meters from a ladder, suffering a head injury and an open wrist fracture, RepórterMT reported. He died on Wednesday, October 21, at Hospital Municipal de Cuiabá. Civil Police are investigating.

The president of the state’s entertainment workers’ union, Sated-MT, warned of recurring reports of missing protective equipment and poor contracting conditions in the sector.

This is a non-U.S. incident shown because no verified serious U.S. entertainment worker incident was found in the past 14 days. For any load-in, the defenses to check are a plan for when power goes live, qualified electricians for all distribution work, nonconductive ladders and lifts near energized gear, and fall protection for work at height. These are planning and equipment controls, not just individual care.
