Serious incident

On Saturday, October 24, 2026, a member of the stage team at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, Spain, was affected by a labor accident during a rehearsal of “I Capuleti e I Montecchi,” OperaWire reported. The Liceu said it activated its protocols, notified the competent authorities, and began actions to determine the circumstances.

The theater said it would not advance conclusions about the causes. The worker was not identified, and the nature of the injuries was not disclosed.

This is a non-U.S. incident shown because no verified serious U.S. entertainment worker incident was found in the past 14 days. For any stage, the defenses to check are clear rehearsal safety procedures, communication between the stage manager and every department, keeping people clear of moving scenery and rigging, and a reporting process that leads to fixes. These are system defenses, not a judgment about the worker.
