Serious incident

Just before 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 30, 2026, a Memphis Fire Department truck was involved in a three-vehicle crash at South Highland Street and Southern Avenue in East Memphis, Tennessee, while companies were responding to an emergency call, Action News 5 (WMC) and FOX13 Memphis reported.

Four firefighters were aboard the truck. Three were taken to a hospital in stable condition and were expected to recover, and a driver of another vehicle refused treatment, the reports said. FOX13 reported the crash pushed the fire truck into a pole, and the truck appeared to be a total loss. The Memphis Police Department is leading the investigation, and the cause has not been released.

For any department, the defenses to check are full stops at red lights and stop signs, clearing each lane before entering an intersection, driver training and route familiarity, and seat belt use by everyone aboard. These are system defenses, not a judgment about the drivers involved.
