Serious incident

On Thursday, October 15, 2026, at about 10:30 a.m., a 58-year-old employee from Iselin, New Jersey, became trapped in a conveyor machine at the Cintas facility on Green Lane in Union, New Jersey, according to Union Deputy Police Chief Barry Cohen as reported by Patch and Daily Voice.

Union firefighters and EMS freed him, and he was taken to University Hospital in Newark with multiple fractures to both legs and a broken hip. Police said his injuries were not life-threatening. OSHA is investigating.

Reports have not said what the man was doing at the conveyor or how he became trapped. For any conveyor, the defenses to check are guards that keep hands and bodies out of nip points, emergency stops and pull cords within reach along the line, a warning before start-up, and lockout before anyone clears a jam or reaches in.
