Serious incident

Just before midnight on Monday, September 28, 2026, the Manteno Fire Protection District was called to the Gotion Illinois plant at 333 S. Spruce St. in Manteno, Illinois, and took one person with burn injuries to Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee, according to the Daily Journal (Shaw Local). The person was later transferred to Loyola Medical Center in Maywood, which specializes in burn trauma care.

A U.S. Department of Labor spokesperson confirmed that OSHA has an open and ongoing investigation. A Gotion spokesman said the incident involved one individual and that the company self-reported it to OSHA, and the company did not release details while the investigation continues. How the burns happened and the worker’s condition have not been reported.

For manufacturing crews, the defenses this points to are a hazard review of the thermal, electrical, and chemical energy in each task, lockout before servicing, the right protective equipment, and emergency response that includes burn first aid and fast transport.
