Archived Brief · Police
Around 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 1, 2026, DeKalb County, Georgia, police officers responded to a domestic incident in the 2000 block of Bouldercrest Road in southeast Atlanta, FOX 5 Atlanta, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, and 11Alive reported. Police Chief Greg Padrick said the man fired on the officers when they encountered him at the door, and at least one officer returned fire.
Both officers were shot and taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where they were reported in stable or moderate condition and expected to survive. The suspect, identified by police as 26-year-old Demontavious SoHo, fled into nearby woods and was taken into custody with a gunshot wound, police said. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was asked to investigate, as is standard.
For any agency, the defenses to check are getting call history and weapons information to responding officers, staging and approaching with cover, positioning away from the door and windows, and clear radio communication at contact. These are system defenses, not a judgment about the officers involved.
