Serious incident

On Wednesday evening, October 7, 2026, a 26-year-old contract worker died after what the Alhambra Police Department described as an electrical incident at a Southern California Edison facility at 501 South Marengo Avenue in Alhambra, California, as reported by La Opinión. NBC Los Angeles reported he worked for All Power Systems.

Police said officers responded at about 7:10 p.m. to a report of an unresponsive person after an electrical incident and found Alhambra firefighters already performing lifesaving measures. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Alhambra Fire Department described the call to NBC Los Angeles as a medical emergency, and Southern California Edison said the contractor was working on a construction project and that it was gathering information. Cal/OSHA was notified, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office is involved, and the Medical Examiner will release his name after next of kin are notified. The cause had not been confirmed.

For utility and contractor crews, the defenses to check are a joint job briefing between the host utility and contractors on what is energized, marked boundaries and approach distances, and a clear stop-work path when the field does not match the plan.
